What is PRP/PRF?
Platelet-rich plasma/fibrin (PRP/PRF) is an autologous treatment, which means it is derived from the patient’s own body, which consists of high levels of platelets and other growth factors that help regenerate and repair damaged tissues and cellular structures. When used for aesthetic purposes, PRP/PRF can help increase collagen and improve the overall quality and health of the skin. What are growth factors? The growth factors/cytokines we use are essentially proteins that specifically target hair follicles to stimulate new hair growth. The growth factor serum features the WNT-1a messaging compound that maintains the hair-inducing gene expression of dermal papilla cells.
What can I expect during a treatment session?
PRP/PRF hair restoration treatment sessions last about an hour. First, I start with LED light therapy. A small amount of blood is then drawn and processed in a centrifuge to separate plasma and create PRP/PRF. Topical numbing cream is applied and then the PRP/PRF is injected into the treatment area. The treatment area is then stimulated with a micro-needling device using a growth factor serum that specifically targets hair follicles. There is little to no downtime associated with this minimally invasive treatment and most of our patients are able to resume their normal routines immediately following a treatment session.
The most visible results of this treatment usually require 3-4 treatments separated by 4-6 weeks and develop within two to three months of your first treatment session. Results may vary.
